Brooks Secures State Funding for West Deer Township Municipal Complex Construction Project
4/22/2022
HARRISBURG – Rep. Bob Brooks (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) announced today that a $1.5 million state grant has been awarded to West Deer Township for the construction of a new Municipal Complex.

Brooks advocated for the funding through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

“The grant is great news to our community,” said Brooks. “West Deer Township is growing in a region that is losing population. The municipal building is too small to handle the day-to-day operations so an upgrade in the facility is needed. The current building was constructed in 1952 as a public works garage. It has since expanded into a building that would serve the entire area for decades. We have received our money’s worth.”

The project will entail the engineering and architectural design, land preparation and the construction of a new municipal complex. This will include the sitework, substructure, shell construction, interior construction, as well as interior finishing, furnishing and procurement.

RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. These projects have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are funded by the state and cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.

For nearly 20 years, RACP has reported numerous successes, with billions of dollars being injected into communities across Pennsylvania for valuable economic development projects.
